Without death there is no rebirth or change. Also, many the war gods and goddess have ravens and crows as totem animals: Odin and The Morgan are two. They also have wolves. From what I read, this is because these animals were at battle fields after the war ended.
This is why I hate when in movies people make them evil. They may warn of things to come, but they do not cause it. No different than Banshees (spelling?) Celtic Fey tell of up coming death, but do not bring it.
I have a small alter in which I keep a small cup for wine or BloodyMary and some food offering to all the spirits I work with. Do you do the same?
Raven and Crows are beautiful birds and so smart. I tell my daughter and son that when you hear a crow it is laughing at the foolness of humans.
I carry a black wolf spirit in which my daughter has seen appear for a minute in our yard and then disappear. I have had dreams of runing with it or changing into it. While at Walmart my daughter did not like how a man was looking at me and called the wolf up. Not only did the man stop looking, a woman walking toward my area stop quickly and turn in the other direction. Which animal is your main one or totem?
